Spice Up Your Chapter Titles

  • Colors. If your main character loves wearing bright colors, use color as a way to foreshadow the chapter.
  • Flowers. Similar to the colors, readers can google the meaning of certain flowers to decode what they mean and how it could foreshadow what happens in the chapter and helps create the mood.
  • Teas. Similar to flowers, all teas have a certain purpose. For instance, peppermint helps most with stress, while chamomile helps with insomnia. Use this to foreshadow.
  • If your story features a character growing up, use objects to show time passing/aging, such as Chapter One (Teddy Bear), Chapter three (ballet shoes), Chapter eighteen (Ford Focus car), Chapter twenty two (800-square foot apartment)
